CAT 2026 (Common Admission Test) will be conducted by an IIM in November 2026 in CBT mode. It is the gateway to 21 IIMs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai and 1000+ B-Schools across India.
CAT 2026 PATTERN:
- 66 questions in 2 hours (40 min per section)
- Section 1: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (24 Qs)
- Section 2: Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (20 Qs)
- Section 3: Quantitative Aptitude (22 Qs)
- Marking: +3 correct, -1 wrong (MCQ); No negative for TITA
CAT PERCENTILE FOR TOP IIMs:
- IIM A/B/C: 99+ percentile
- IIM L/I/K: 97-99 percentile
- New IIMs (Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi): 95-97
- Baby IIMs (Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Nagpur, etc.): 90-95
OTHER MBA EXAMS:
- XAT (XLRI, XIMB): Most challenging exam
- IIFT (foreign trade)
- SNAP (Symbiosis B-Schools)
- NMAT (NMIMS)
- CMAT (200+ B-schools)
- MAH-CET (Maharashtra govt B-schools)
PREPARATION TIMELINE:
- Months 1-3: Concept building (Arun Sharma series)
- Months 4-6: Sectional practice + topic tests
- Months 7-9: Mocks (1 per week initially, 3 per week later)
- Months 10-12: Mock analysis + revision
ADMISSION PROCESS:
After CAT shortlist → Personal Interview + Written Assessment + Past academic record (50% weight). 12th board marks matter even after 4-5 years!
