NEET UG 2026 is the gateway to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and AYUSH courses across 706+ medical colleges in India. The exam will be conducted by NTA in May 2026 (single session) in pen-paper mode.
EXAM PATTERN 2026:
- 200 questions (180 to attempt) — 50 per subject (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology)
- Section A: 35 compulsory questions per subject
- Section B: 15 questions, attempt any 10
- Marking: +4 for correct, -1 for wrong
- Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes
- Total marks: 720
EXPECTED CUTOFFS (FOR GOVT MBBS):
- General: 620-650+ marks
- OBC: 600-620
- SC/ST: 480-520
- EWS: 600-620
PREPARATION STRATEGY:
1. Biology (50% weightage in marks): Master NCERT line-by-line. 95%+ questions are NCERT-based.
2. Chemistry: Focus on Inorganic (NCERT only) + Organic (mechanism understanding). Numerical practice for Physical Chemistry.
3. Physics: Toughest section. Practice numericals daily from HC Verma + DC Pandey.
4. Take AIIMS PYQs and CBSE 12th board sample papers — overlap is huge.
