JEE Main 2026 will be conducted by NTA in two sessions (January and April). The exam continues to test Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 75 questions (25 per subject), out of which 5 are numerical type. Total marks: 300. Students must also score 75% in Class 12 board for IIT/NIT eligibility (65% for SC/ST).
KEY CHANGES IN JEE 2026:
- Optional numerical questions (5 out of 10) continued
- Negative marking (-1) on incorrect numerical answers reinstated
- Two attempts allowed (best score considered)
- Application fee revised: Rs.1000 (General), Rs.500 (SC/ST/Female)
PREPARATION ROADMAP:
1. Foundation (Months 1-3): NCERT Class 11 & 12 — read each chapter twice. Solve all in-text questions.
2. Concept Building (Months 4-6): HC Verma & DC Pandey for Physics, Narendra Awasthi for Chemistry, RD Sharma + Cengage for Mathematics.
3. Practice Phase (Months 7-9): Previous 10 years JEE papers (chapter-wise then full-length).
4. Mock Test Series (Months 10-12): 2 full mocks per week, detailed analysis after each.
TOP TIP: 60% of JEE questions are direct application of NCERT concepts. Skipping NCERT is the #1 mistake students make.
